Bremerton Base Participated in Tacoma's Military Service Parade
A small contingent of base members led by Cdr Jim DeMott and Vdcr Steve Corcoran marched in the Tacoma Military Service Parade with the Bonefish float pulled Bonefish Mgr Sam Swenson this past Saturday evening during the annual Daffodil Festival. Its significant to see WWII Subvet Paul Christofferson and our youngest and active duty member Joe Hanisko in attendance. Paul did combat duty in the war and Joe shows his appreciation for that while serving our country in a special way. Its a good sign that represents our membership.

On the evening of Saturday, August 24, the
Bremerton Base participated in the first Celebrating
Military Service Parade in Tacoma. The weather was very
cooperative, with no rain and a comfortable temperature. Our
parade entry consisted of the Bonefish float, along with six
Base members, including WWII veteran Paul Christofferson
and active duty member Joseph Hanisko. We were
also joined by a retired Navy Chaplain, in uniform, who rode
the float with Paul. Some sections of the parade route had
few spectators, while others were pretty crowded, but we
were well received throughout. Probably the best part was
the wait for the start of the parade at the staging area. We
were in a mix of participants from different services and
organizations. There were a lot of people in a small area,
but everyone was very friendly, sharing stories, memories,
and a few laughs!
More about the parade here.

Bremerton Base Fireworks Sale Shows a Decent Profit
Base Treasurer Dennis Nardone finalized the 2013 fireworks sale net profit at $4,261.70, or 17.18% of gross sales. Fireworks Sales Manager Mike Sullivan and 2014 manger Mike Friend can take pride in their long and hard work on this project.
Other members and volunteers (CPOA) that worked the sales should be recognized as well. This annual income is the base's major revenue source for operations and charitable activities, primarily the scholarship program.
